Buddy Up is a mentoring and befriending project that makes “places to go, things to do” in Sefton more accessible to young people aged 13 to 16 with Special and Additional Needs. 

The programme aims to provide support which enables these young people to attend social activities within the local community by pairing them up with mentors.

Buddy Up recruits and supports young mentors aged 13 to 18 from mainstream schools and are trained to enable them to provide support and encouragement to their 'Buddy' simply by being friendly and having fun which will help to develop their self-confidence/ self-esteem and to assist them to access activities within their neighbourhood.

Buddy Up supports progression for young people who are mentored (mentees). The mentees will have the choice to become future mentors within the project and will also be provided with information and advice on volunteering activity in other community groups.

Organisations - We need your help!
We would like to link into other services to provide participants and mentors with new opportunities once they exceed the age criteria for Buddy Up. The participants are enthusiastic and wish to continue their personal development.
